International Games Month @ MSJ Library

November is International Games Month or IGM. International Games Month is an initiative to reconnect communities through their libraries around the educational, recreational, and social value of all types of games. Started in 2007 as International Games Day, this free event has grown from day to week to month and across the globe. It raises awareness about games in libraries and the benefits of playing games to the public.

Some benefits of play are emotional regulation, social development, cognitive functions, and creativity. Games and play have been used as interventions in educational settings and clinical settings including therapy. No matter the setting or the reasons, we hope you have fun when playing games!

This year, the Archbishop Alter Library is getting in on the fun and hopes you will join us in celebrating IGM. Throughout the month, there will be playful activities for you to take and enjoy anytime as well as lifesize word games in the library lobby from November 11-15. Stop by the library, participate in the fun, and earn a chance to be randomly selected as a prize winner.

If you have questions about IGM activities at the MSJ Library, please contact Ruth Monnier, Head of Research & Instructional Services.
