Access Databases Off-Campus

1)  Start by choosing a resource from:

Databases A-Z       OR      Databases listed by Subject

(Not sure where to being your research? Ask a Librarian: library@msj.edu)

2) Have your Library Barcode (printed on your Mount AllCard) handy.

What's my Library Barcode? Your Library Barcode is printed on your MSJ AllCard. This card is your school ID card and doubles as your Library card. If you have not gotten your MSJ AllCard, stop by Campus Security in the Seton Center (513-244-4226). You can also look up your Library Barcode by logging in to myMount. Learn more about the Lions AllCard.

3) When you choose a database link from off-campus, you will be prompted to login.  Depending on the service you’re seeking, you will see EITHER a Mount Library OR an OhioLINK login screen. See examples of login screens below.

Troubleshooting Tips

1)    Have you obtained your MSJ Lions AllCard?

Example of MSJ AllCard and LIB # locationThe AllCard is your school photo ID card that also doubles as your Library card.
It is your responsibility to obtain your card from Campus Security.
You must use this card for off-campus library access and OhioLINK resource requesting.

2)    Check your name:

Are you following the on-screen prompt for your LAST name?  (For OhioLINK, comma space also works between last and first names.)  Keep in mind that your myMount/Blackboard/MSJ email user name and password are NOT the same as your Library login.

3)    Check your barcode:

Are you typing in the correct LIB ID# that is printed on your card? Have you double checked for typos?
Verify your LIB ID# by logging in to myMount:
From myMount, choose Academics
       >choose Library (in left column with folder icon)

       >find your “library account #” on the “Library Information” page

4)    Check your web browser:

  • Double check that your browser settings allow for cookies.
  • Try clearing your browser's web cache and cookies file.
  • Sometimes "Private Browsing" features can prevent database search screens from appearing. Try turning off "Private Browsing" in your browser.

5)    Contact the Library

If you’ve check 1-4, and are still having login trouble, please contact the Library at library@msj.edu .  We can verify that you have an active library record and that the name and barcode printed on your card match your library record.

If you need assistance with research, we welcome your questions and invite you to contact the Library at library@msj.edu
