Library Services for Online/Distance Learning

Library Services for Online and Distance Learning Students

The Mount Library is committed to offering library services for student who are taking online courses. The following is a brief overview of library services available to online and distance learning students.

  • Databases of articles in journals, magazines and newspapers
  • Electronic book collections
  • Online dictionaries, encyclopedias and other reference sources
  • Online image, film, and sound collections
  • Please note: you will need your library number on the front of your Mount ID card to access online library resources from off-campus.

 

  • The Mount Library provides off-campus access to Library services:
  • Mount students are entitled to the following resources and services when they visit another OhioLINK library:
  • Check out books and other items
  • OhioLINK borrowing
  • Access to online databases and other OhioLINK resources
  • Access to reference collections
  • Students may use any of the OhioLINK Libraries listed in the directory

 

  • Library resources and services are also available at Ohio public libraries, and Non-Ohio libraries.
  • Visitor policies vary from library to library; for example, each library sets its own loan rules
  • You may be asked to show identification; for example, driver’s license or Mount ID card
  • Use Worldcat to find books or other materials in a library close to you.
  • If you need assistance finding a library to use near you, please contact the Mount Library for assistance

ILL for Distance Learners

Distance learning students are eligible for interlibrary loan services. If you want to borrow books or other materials, complete the ILL request form. If you need assistance, please contact the library by email or by phone (513-244-4216).

Articles:

  • When the ILL request is filled, the Mount Library will send a PDF copy of the article you requested to your Mount email address.
  • Copyright law permits only five (5) requests per journal title (for articles published within the last five years) to be obtained by a library through ILL per year.

Books:

  •  Books requested through OhioLINK can be picked up at any OhioLINK library through the Pick Up Anywhere service. OhioLINK books will not be sent to host librarians.
  • Books requested via the Mount Library's interlibrary loan form will be sent to the student's home mailing address.
  • Books borrowed via the ILL request form must be returned to the Mount Library by the due date indicated on the book.
  • The date due is indicated on the orange band around the outside of each book. The due date is determined by the lending library and must be strictly observed.
  • Contact the Mount Library if you wish to renew your ILL book. Renewal requestsl must be made BEFORE the due date. Renewals are also determined by the lending library. If a renewal request is denied the book must be returned.
  • A fine of $1.00 per day is charged to for each item returned late.
