For patrons seeking individual quiet study space, the MSJ Library offers on a first-come-first-serve basis numerous quiet areas in the main Reading Room, the Second Floor Study Area, and the Third Floor Study Area.
For group study space that can accommodate discussion and collaboration, the Library encourages patrons to reserve one of the Group Study Rooms.
Please note the following requirements for studying in the Library's designated quiet study areas:
Attention: the Research Consultation Room—located at the front of the Reading Room near the elevator—is a moderate noise zone. Talking is permitted, but please talk quietly in this space, as loud noise will drift up the stairwell and disturb patrons studying in our Quiet Study Areas on the 2nd and 3rd floors. Again, it is suggested that you reserve one of the Group Study Rooms if you need a space that can accommodate discussion and collaboration. Thank you for your cooperation!
