Search Course Reserves

To search the MSJ Course Reserves, go to Library Search, then choose from the drop down menu the "MSJ Course Reserves" search setting. From there you can search by:

  • course name (e.g., Spoken Word),
  • course code/number (e.g., COM 100),
  • instructor’s last name (Don’t know your professor’s last name? Check Blackboard.), or
  • title of book/item (e.g., Communication in our Lives)

Please note: searching Course Reserves in the FOCUS Library Catalog will be phased out June-July 2025. To search MSJ Course Reserves use the new Library Search.

Borrowing Reserves

Course Reserves:

Items on reserve are books, videos, and other materials set aside for a specific course or other use by library staff at the request of the course's instructor.

Loan Periods:

Loan periods for items on reserve are set by the course’s instructor:

  • Items with a 3-hour loan period are due at the time indicated and may not be taken from the Library.
  • Items with 1-, 3-, or 7-day loan period are due by closing on the date due.

Search Course Reserves:

Borrow Reserve Items for Classes:

  • Currently enrolled MSJ students may borrow reserve items with a valid ID card.  See MSJ Students borrowing guidelines for more information.
  • MSJ faculty, including Sisters of Charity who are faculty members or instructors, may borrow reserve items with a valid ID card.  Staff and Sisters of Charity who are students may borrow reserve items for their classes with a valid ID card.  See MSJ Faculty & Staff & Sisters of Charity borrowing guidelines for more information.
  • Since reserve items are needed for instructional purposes, guest patrons of the MSJ Library are prohibited from borrowing reserve materials.  See Visiting Patrons: OhioLINK, SearchOhio, & Residents of Ohio and All Other Library Guests borrowing guidelines for more information.
