What is Inclusive Access?

Inclusive access is a textbook and course materials delivery model that can be added to nearly any course in which the instructor has already adopted a digital textbook and/or courseware. With inclusive access, students receive access to their required courseware/textbook through one or more links on the Blackboard page for the course. The student is charged an inclusive access textbook fee when they register for the course. Students also have a right to opt out of inclusive access, but they must choose to opt out by clicking an opt-out link in the Blackboard course within two weeks after the first day of the course.

With inclusive access, student benefit by saving money off the publisher’s list price for the course materials, and by having access to their course materials on day one of the course, assuming that the instructor has completed the necessary setup of the links and courseware (if adopted) prior to the beginning of the course. Many major publishers, including Pearson, Cengage, McGraw-Hill, Sage, and Macmillan offer inclusive access options for their textbooks and courseware.

Note: This delivery model is only offered to students in partnership with the Mount’s official textbook supplier, eCampus. Inclusive access cannot be implemented with any other third-party vendor, nor can it be set up directly with a publisher. Please see "Inclusive Access Textbook Program" on eCampus' site for more information about eCampus’ inclusive access program.

For you have any questions about inclusive access, or you need assistance with adopting inclusive access in one or more of your courses, please contact Scott Lloyd, Director of Library Services, for assistance.
