Case studies allow for students to explore and analyze situations in which they might not have experience. Additionally, case studies can be used to show theories studied in class. Remember that case studies can be real or fictional situations. MSJ Library provides access to business case studies through database access, books, and online sources.

A search of the database Business Source Complete will retrieve the full text of cases published in The Harvard Business Review and other journals. Connect to Business Source Complete from this guide, or find it listed under Articles > Databases by Subject OR > Databases A-Z on the MSJ Library's web site.

To search for case studies in the Business Source Complete database:

1. On the main search screen, scroll down to Search Options; Limit your results
2. Look for and select Full Text
3. Look for Document Type and select Case Study
4. Scroll up to the Search Menu and enter your search terms

To locate case studies, teaching notes and discussion questions in the Journal of the International Academy for Case Studies, search Business Source Complete database by title and topic.

1. Enter the journal title in the search box; select the field label SO Publication Name
2. Narrow search results by entering a topic, for example; accounting, decision making, marketing, etc.
