General Research: Getting Started

Getting Started with General Databases:

Academic Search Complete is a general, multi-disciplinary research database.

Electronic Journal Center (EJC) is OhioLINK's full text article database with strong coverage of sciences.

JSTOR is a multi-disciplinary research database with strong collections in the humanities.

OneSearch (EBSCO Discovery Service) simultaneously searches the Library's local, digital, and OhioLINK holdings, as well as numerous EBSCO databases.

    Databases for Students K-12

    The databases listed below are designed specifically for a K-12 audience and may be useful to Mount student teachers. Mount student teachers working in Ohio are likely to encounter these databases in Ohio school media centers and libraries. Additionally, many of the full text and multimedia content within these resources are ideal for inclusion in "curriculum webs."

    Explora for Primary Schools (EBSCO)

    Explora for Secondary Schools (EBSCO)

    MAS Ultra: School Edition (EBSCO) (provides full text from general interest and current events publications for high school students. Coverage dates from 1975- present for key magazines.)

    Middle Search Plus (EBSCO) (provides full text from popular magazines for middle school students. Articles are assigned a reading level indicator, and full text materials date from 1990-present.)

    Primary Search (EBSCO) (provides full text for more than 60 popular magazines for elementary school students.)

    TOPICSearch (EBSCO) (A current events database allows researchers to explore popular topics discussed in today’s classrooms.)
